Shopping in Seoul

Who could've guessed? You know, you wouldn't think of me as the guy who goes shopping. Usually, I never do - and I did manage to postpone it this late - but there are a couple of places worth mentioning when talking about shopping in Seoul.

World students in Korea news

Exciting stories about Korean culture, in one way or another.

2 600 meters

I've still got it.

Before I came here I took the cooper's test to check what kind of a shape I got myself in after doing indoor-cycling for half a year, more or less. In cooper's test you run 12 minutes as fast as you can. That wasn't the only reason, though. I also wanted to see how exchange studies affect you.

Making money by doing fun stuff

I couldn't get sleep because of all the things revolving in my head so I figured I'd make a blog post about something that just came up to my mind: making money and having fun while doing it. Sounds random.

What now?

It's my last Sunday evening at the campus dormitory in the middle of Seoul and I'm going to have dinner after writing this (while listening to Mansun). I'll try to briefly explain some things I've been up to and what's going to happen next.

Also, like 100% of my readers think, I'll try to keep this post brief.........

November in pictures

This time, much more user-friendly. Sad but true, this may well be the last picture update I make this year and in Korea.

EEEEverything about Korea

...if not everything, you should tell me what I'm missing.

So since I'm more interested in conceptual things such as psychology and leadership I often find myself not doing anything interesting. Let alone write about those things here. I've also discovered that there are a lot of easy ways to make a little money and new friends if you just happen to know the right people and ask the right things at the right time.

That's why I'm now happy to share some other blogs with you, which will help not only you but also me to be more aware of what's going on in here. Especially with the war stuff going on again at the Korean border. You won't get this at a tourist info.

Freedom is not free

I've been having a hard time with balancing my time with studies and personal life - you know, with the following taking a lot more time as I'm an exchange student. That's also why my blog has faced the not unusual dilemma of lack of updates. There is no balance, there are only trade-offs.

This text is about some feelings from September, which was already from more than a month ago. Let's see if I'm able to identify with my past self.

Ooh and good news, everyone! I was selected for blogging for the world students in Korea! I'm a member of the 4th batch.

When you're an exchange student you're expected to have a lot of crazy parties and I'm trying to keep up that reputation. On a scale from 1-10 there definitely have been a couple of most awesome nights ever with breakfast waiting for you when getting back to the dormitory. Also, I've been working on projects such as a final report for AIESEC - see their view of what it should look like.

About learning how to learn

So the mid-term exams are over and I've been here for two months already. To state the obvious: time goes fast. Here's some news from Korea, the best kept secret in Asia. In this text I'm going to tell you about some useful things I learned so far, even if it means that you'll have to spend hours on actually reading the whole text with all the external links.

Week 8: Mid-term exams

The mid-term exams are on and based on the first two that I had today they are somewhat easy, as I completed both in 15 minutes. I'll get back to you with Learn/Feel/Do but thought I'd first share some more or less absolutely hilarious material. This is my sense of humor.

A long long time ago, somewhere in the Facebook
Wherewolf
Never say no to panda
Italian football practice
7 things you really don't need to take a photo of - The Oatmeal
Bible, literally (in Finnish)

Right now though, I'm working on all the notes I've made and there are a lot of them. It's crazy how much happens in two months.

1 month: A lot to do

Last weekend I realized I have some homework to do.

This means that I'll prioritize my life here as opposed to writing the blog for the time being, but be not afraid: merely the fact that I took the time to inform you of this should mean that I'm quite committed to the blog. I should be back in business when the mid-term exams begin in a few weeks. If you want to update me on anything or get updates of my thoughts drop a comment, write an email or catch up with me on Skype. You can also take a free, 10-minute MBTI-test if you're interested in getting to know yourself better. I'm INFJ.

Looking forward to hearing from you for a change. ;-)

Thanks for taking your time to read my blog! I appreciate it more than you think. Drop a comment here if you liked the texts or found something you did not exactly agree with. I'm not satisfied with my writing skills yet and hope to be able to express myself better as time goes on and I experiment with the blog.

Later!

Week 4: Mixed feelings

I don't always talk much. That doesn't mean I don't like the way you behave. But it might. Think about it. One month in Seoul and I'm still alive and well. Give me some energy, though.

Felt as if I was still drunk.

Week 3: Been there, done that

So what did I actually do during the first three weeks here?

Physical activities are the easiest to describe so I'm going to tell you what I've been up to. Besides, reflecting on what I've done doesn't take that much energy. I'm writing this at the dormitory on a Sunday morning at 7AM. It's been intense.

Week 2: awesome people

My experience is that change is good.

This text will be about some of the things I've learned during my stay here. I believe it's more important than writing about the places I've been to or how I've felt because when it comes to learning there's always a need for reflection, as the things that I've done and how I felt are merely the environment in which my learning takes place.

Hey AIESEC!

Dear diary, today I felt like a management consultant.

I think that I was able to help the AIESECers at Sogang University thanks to the work I've done in AIESEC. My AIESEC experience so far covers quite a few leadership positions: vice president talent management & corporate development, local committee president and lastly organizing committee president of an international conference.

Week 1: Arrival & things

So yeah, the flights took me to Seoul from Helsinki via Amsterdam 27th August and I arrived here 28th August at 11am local, 5am Finnish time. The first week has been full of student life at its best. Here's a feeble attempt at describing my time in here so far. Because I dislike reading a lot of text in a messy format I've structured the blog the following way. I'll also be able to reflect on the most important points of the day. If you see that there's some logic missing just say so.

p) people
c) cultures

Why not?

Allright... I've already been one week in Seoul so it's more than about time to do this!

It all started in January when I was looking for some new places to go for my exchange studies. It's not mandatory to go for exchange at my university, but based on everything I know it's more than beneficial for you as a person and as a professional. So why not? Having made the decision I had some criteria for the university I was going to choose:
